Dead Space / Xbox, PS3 – $22

Dealnews brings word that Buy.com is offering the survival horror title Dead Space for the PS3 or the Xbox 360 for $22, delivered.

Deadspace is a well-reviewed survival sci-fi horror game (88 or 89 at Metacritic, depending on platform). You play a communications engineer set out to find out what went wrong with a mining vessel — no special combat training, no special weapons. Predictably, bad, bad things happened on that mining vessel, and its up to you and your wrench set to set everything right again.

Dead Space is a riveting survival horror game, unflinchingly violent from start to finish. Blindly unpredictable and incredibly intense, Dead Space keeps your heart pumping the entire game. It’s got aliens, zero-g shootouts, blood, guts, and broken bones. It’s unnervingly tense one moment and piss-your-pants terrifying the next. It’s an exhilarating tale of aliens, claustrophobia, and isolation in a dark corner of outer space where no one can hear you scream.

Gamespy said this in their 5-star, Editor’s Choice review:

Dead Space is an achievement that rivals greats like Half-Life 2 and BioShock. Its nuanced and labyrinthine plot, fully-realized characters and devastating attention to minute graphical details are beyond reproach. There are a few minor quibbles one could unearth (and we will), but these fail to mar what is one of the better-realized gaming experiences to date.

The Deadspace teaser site is here (’noknownsurvivors.com’ — nice url, fellas). “Click a mutated body part to enter,” it says.

Play it before the movie ruins it for us all.
